RFP Writing

To:
2008
From:
2007

I began consulting with Polytechnic University (formerly Brooklyn Polytechnic, now Polytechnic Institute of NYU) in January 2007.

I was asked in about September 2007 to craft an RFP to convert the entire panoply of 70+ university sites into a unified, branded, managed, controlled sites, in which the content creators, aided with the appropriate tools and best-practices, are kings.

The project went out for bid January 2008, and the very interesting firm of Agent16 was chosen.

This was an extraordinary experience, 30+ interviews and relentless documentation. Would I do it again?

Problem Definition:

Unify and excite the web experience for the US's second-oldest technical school, with 70+ separate sites, 3000 students, and probably 100+ content provides, some of them Nobel Laureates.

Approach:
Ask the right question. Listen.

Expert Witness

Like its sister project, VerdictSearch.com, NLJExperts.com (The NLJ is for National Law Journal, another property of incisivemedia's), designed application, coordinated production, and incremental improved, and managed this application for 5 years.

Problem Definition:

Like verdict research, expert witness search is one of the big opportunities in the legal information market.

Approach:
Full-stack developement from ERD to buildout to primary-level support.

Legal Research

To:
Present
From:

VerdictSearch.com, owned and operated by IncisiveMedia, LLC, is one of the leading legal research venues in the world.

Initial architecture and build-out, coordination with designers and testing.

Clemandco is proud to have incrementally improved and maintained the application for over 7 years now.

Problem Definition:

How to improve the legal research process for legal staff, allowing instant eCommerce access to hundreds of thousands of legal verdicts from around the country without additional hardware or software?

Approach:
Many phases and issues. The Internet never sleeps!

Business Journals

To:
2006
From:
2003

When I arrived on the scene at the Westchester and Fairfield Business Journals, 4-day-a-week employee went live with the web version of these papers the Thursday after Monday morning publication.

Using XML from Quark (later InDesign), a smaller staff was able to generate the full web version of the paper four days before the paper version hit the mailboxes, at a tiny fraction of the cost of a full time employee.

Build out full eCommerce for online paper purchases, integrated with two different vendors.

Problem Definition:

One of those integration problems at which clemandco excels: how to take items and protocols on hand and turn them in a real, working system that saves time and money?

Approach:
Many phases, from initial development of the online papers and scripts, to full ecommerce, metatagging, dynamic publication through much-hacked Drupal instance.

Debt Collection

To:
Present
From:
2002

The firm of Moss Associates came to me to build a system for debt collection to be used by lawyers distributed nationally.

The system logs, assigns, tracks the items, and reports on monthly totals and commissions for users. It generates court papers in Word format, and tracks every call, change in item status, final payments, and even mailing labels for correspondence.

Kind of like a CRM, only with debtors.

Problem Definition:

How do you build a national law firm of part-time associates specializing in debt collection?

Approach:
Full application development, from ERD to application architecture to graphic design to debug to rollout.

Human Resources

The client, Gilman Performance Systems, is a leader in the Human Resources of 360 review, hiring, and many other areas.

This was a port of their existing application, 'Successful Interviewing Selection,' with many bells and whistles added.

Role-based ACL, reporting, and custom generation of Microsoft Word documents, including interview questionnaires and interview selction criteria, right down to the ranking of applicants and their interview sessions.

Problem Definition:

How "to coordinate, track, manage, and best of all, save time on your entire interview and selection process."

Approach:
Full application and graphic design, staging maintenance and feature additions over the years.
